Corporate updates: Ocado, the UK online grocery store, seeks to prove to sceptical investors that it is on the road to recovery when it publishes first-half results.

Economic data: Figures to be published by Kantar today show whether the damp British summer has dented supermarket sales. According to Kantar’s most recent index, take-home grocery sales rose by just 1 per cent over the four weeks to June 9. Germany publishes a second-quarter update of labour market statistics. In May, the seasonally adjusted number of people in employment rose by about 20,000 compared with the previous month.
