Verizon, Nike share gains contribute to Dow’s 379-point rally

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is rallying Monday afternoon with shares of Verizon and Nike leading the way for the index. The Dow
DJIA,

was most recently trading 379 points (1.2%) higher, as shares of Verizon
VZ,
+3.53%
and Nike
NKE,
+3.90%
are contributing to the index’s intraday rally. Verizon’s shares have climbed $1.14, or 3.4%, while those of Nike have gained $2.77, or 2.8%, combining for a roughly 26-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Goldman Sachs
GS,
+3.77%,
McDonald’s
MCD,
+1.72%,
and Travelers
TRV,
+3.01%.
A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.59-point swing.
